PREMIERE: Jacknife drops new single CODE BLACK inspired by space exploration gone wrong
Jacknife is easily one of Australia’s biggest up-and'-coming producers, having caught the eye and now support from the likes of Malaa, Black Tiger Sex Machine, Dr Fresch and so many more.
The Sunny Coast-based DJ and producer has just dropped this absolute weapon on BTSM’s highly esteemed label ‘Kannibalen Records’, and it was inspired by an honestly fucking wild idea.
“In search for new life, a space exploration team blasts off into the universe. Unaware of the dangers ahead, these brave soldiers bring back more than they can handle.
ALERT:: CODE BLACK :: All citizens, EVACUATE”
From the moment the track begins, it almost sounds like an alarm - like anticipation and panic begin to build for the listener. The song features some of Jacknife’s signature elements, as well as some crazy futuristic/spacey sounds too. If you close your eyes and listen to this, you can almost picture yourself on a spaceship - with the alarm going off, and kind of like you’re preparing for an apocalyptic space battle.
With electrifyingly suspenseful build-ups, and then an insanely heavy grinding bassline on the drop, CODE BLACK will send your mind into space upon listening.
“'This will be my last release for the year. I have been sitting on ‘Code Black’ for about 6 months, and I’m so excited that it’s out on one of my favourite labels - Kannibalen, run by Black Tiger Sex Machine. Interestingly enough, this started as a Sierra Leone - Mt Eden flip, which then eventually turned into an original after I created a breakdown and vocals to fit the project.”
