INTERVIEW: ELOHIM
The illustrious Elohim has just released her latest project ‘Journey To The Center of Myself: Volume 4’, a self-released, self-written body of work containing 8 songs. A truly personal set of songs that Elohim created start-to-finish on her own. The EP, the final instalment of the 4-part series, is a personal journey, one that El experienced throughout the pandemic, when she found herself having something she’s never had before - time. This singer, songwriter, musician, DJ and producer is one of the most exciting and innovative artists we have our eye on at the moment. An empowered, powerful woman in music, which we absolutely love to see.
What colour does the EP sound like?
Calming blue
What's the ideal environment to listen through the body of work?
Driving, sitting in the sun with headphones on, laying flat in bed with your eyes closed, walking…
A piece of advice for aspiring women in music?
Learn to produce and be as self-sufficient as possible. Take risks and challenges. Write as much as you possibly can and stay true to what you believe. Trust your gut!
What empowers you?
When I am on stage performing giving my all; blood, sweat, tears.. that's when I feel like the most badass version of myself. Producing my own EP was also so incredibly empowering and gave me a newfound confidence in myself and my skills as a writer and producer. I AM EMPOWERED!
Something you love about yourself?
I love my heart and my ability to be empathetic to others.
If you could read one book for the rest of your life, what would it be?
TV > books. The Real Housewives!
Favourite lyrical line from the EP and why?
"My showers gone cold when I needed it most that'll teach me not to stand here and cry. My thoughts are a curse getting darker and worse and the water is draining and being wasted" I wrote this while sobbing in the shower as the water went cold during one of those personal crisis days id have every couple weeks during 2020.
3 items you'd bury yourself with?
My piano, my music books, family photos.
Last dream you had?
I was hanging out with Billie Eilish and her brother in another country. I usually have very psychedelic dreams and borderline lucid dreams so this was pretty mild and boring.
You're given a 1-way plane ticket to anywhere in the world, 1 instrument to bring and $50. What's your plan?
This sounds scary so I’d say Palm Springs and my piano because Palm Springs is very calming.
